I am constantly skeptical about books I read regarding Organic products and the people who are writing these books and their qualifications. I was hesitant because although the authors seemed to have extensive experience in the industry it did not seem to define their qualifications for verifying the information. They weren't scientists or doctors per se. However, the forward is written by an M.D. that had some very positive things to say. Also, the author diligently cites her sources to various information from organizations including the Environmental Protection Agency and also various medical journals and other health related studies so I felt I could rely on the information I was getting.
Also, I happened to know that the author owned her own personal care line. Many times the intent for books like this is to sell their own product and use it as a marketing tool. I was pleasantly surprised that although she mentioned that she owned a company she didn't specify her products or what it was she sold exactly. She made no attempt to market her own products to entice sales. I have a lot of respect for her intent for getting the information out to the public for the sake of the public and not to make a buck.
Lastly, the book is intelligently organized which includes a scientific background on the anatomy of the skin as well as important facts about organic versus non-organic product. There is also a very thorough list and explanation on the particular ingredients she means to address and how to read labels! I recommend this book to every open minded individual willing to read it.

The Beauty Bible is meant as a companion volume to Paula Bogoun's Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me, and it does contain some unique information not found in Don't Go..., including advice on overall body care and tips on makeup application. However, the most helpful sections of this book--eg, instructions for blemish/acne treatment, inside information about product ingredients, etc.--are covered more succinctly and clearly in Begoun's other work, which also includes a ton of useful information on specific skin care and makeup products. I recommend that you first purchase Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me, and if you then require additional information, consider buying this book.
