Watts Premier 560017 Two Stage Green Carbon Annual Replacement Filter Pack Review

Watts does not make it easy to match up filters with there filter housing. It required a lot of homework to get the filters that would work with the housing. Tracking the original filters that came with the housing proved fruitless. Once I did all the homework the system is working fine.

560017Millions of carbon blocks are sold in North America annually. During the process of turning the raw material into a usable carbon for these water filters, a process called charring takes place. This charring releases over 70 percent of the mass of the base material which is released into the atmosphere. In a new and patented charring process this Premier Green block is processed in an enclosed reactor that captures these greenhouse gasses and uses them under controlled conditions for the production of thermal energy that is used within the production plant. This process virtually eliminates the product of these greenhouse gasses that are released in the standard charring process. If all of the carbon blocks sold used this process it would be the equivalent of reducing the CO2 emitted by 350,000 midsized cars driven 20,000 miles annually. Features: -Carbon filter kit. -2 - 5 Micron sediment filter: Reduces dirt, sand and rust. -4 - 5 Micron Green Carbon Block Filter: Superior contaminant reduction through the use of these certified coconut shell carbon blocks. -1 - 10'' in-line filter. -Reduce your environmental impact: Using these Premier replacement filters with your water filtration system can save over 9,000 half liter bottles going in to land fills per filter change out. -Coconut shell carbon is renewable resources compared to coal. Coconut plantations with millions of acres continue to provide all the benefits of green trees to our environment in spite of using coconut shell for activation. -Reduces Chlorine Taste and Odor. -Easy to install. -Fits all standard water filtration systems. -NSF certified. -Overall dimensions: 10'' H x 2'' W x 2'' D.

Clearwave Electronic Water Conditioner (Softner) CW-1 Review

Clearwave Electronic Water Conditioner (Softner) CW-1
Average Reviews:

I ended up having to buy two of these. I couldn't find a place to install it inside the house(couldn't find the incoming water pipe), so I installed it outside the house. I had to dig into the dirt to get enough room to install the unit and drilled a hole into the wall of the house to run the electrical connection. I thought I had protected it enough from the rain, but what I did not think about was what would happen during a torrential downpour. The hole filled with water and that was the end of my unit.
So I bought another one and this time I took better precautions about protecting it from the elements and so far so good. It works great and I love the soft water and how it makes my skin feel.

Everpure H-300 Replacement Cartridge Review

Everpure H-300 Replacement Cartridge
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Good: The water filter works well. The water tastes great and is an economical and eco-friendly alternative from bottle water.
The Bad: Although I received a competitive price for this replacement filter on my Everpure H300 system at Amazon, I needed two plumbers and practically three weeks of badgering to Everpure to get a new head for my filtration unit that was not accepting the replacement filter. The older (3-4 years+) heads on the Everpure units are poorly engineered. The newer heads are significantly better.
The Ugly: Everpure does not have a protocol or any policy to recycle their used filters. I called the company's headquarters and was told to throw the used filter in the garbage. Everpure provides a healthly alternative to tap water for the home and office. That's great. But they are far from being an environmentally sustainable company. Their filters have been absorbing heavy metals, toxins and whatever else may be in the tap water over a long period of time. It is unacceptable to have a policy by default that their used filters be thrown into the waste stream. I will be following up with Everpure's management on this issue...

WaterBoss Water Softener - 36,400 Grain Capacity, Model# 900 Review

WaterBoss Water Softener - 36,400 Grain Capacity, Model# 900
Average Reviews:

The time had come for me to replace the old water softener. I went to Menards and immediately was impressed with the Water Boss brand due to it's low profile design and implied superior quality. Oh was that last part a mistake!
Installation was easy, programming was easy, life was wonderful until months later when it started beeping. The error code indicated a problem with the timer motor that operates the mechanism (while this is demand sensing, an electronically activated timer motor is still the method of mechanically working the unit - no issue here). So I pull the controller off and indeed see that the timer motor has failed. Pull the moter, check the serial number and, uh, oh ooooohhhhh...... Houston, we have a problem!
The paper serial number label, which is on the valve itself, is not resistant to salt dust! It was very hard to read, and upon wiping it with a dry cloth, all the numbers wiped right off. Now the date stamp on the motor was just months old, so I called and explained my situation. Water Boss could not have cared less. My 3 year warranty was useless due to their poor labeling system. "What credit card do you wish to use....."
Fast forward to many months later. After resetting my unit to delay regeneration and turning off the salt-gobbling 96 hour max run time, I noticed hard water one day, and the "days remaining" was still 11. IOW it was not sensing my usage, and indeed the water flow icon was not moving despite having the washer filling up. A quick inspection reveals that the ribbon cable from the hall effect sensor for the water flow turbine has corroded at the controller connection. DUH! This is clearly a product defect. Yet it will be out of pocket again since my 3 year warranty is useless. Hmmm - I wonder how much THIS under 3 year old part will cost me?
Do yourself a favor, just avoid this brand. Older units may be the picture of reliability, but I've read too many bad comments about the new units and poor customer service - a real eye opener when you, like me, have experienced the same fate.
