(More customer reviews)Short Story: I knew there was a lot of chlorine in my water, so I only drink bottled water. Then while I was whining about my hair thinning, a friend says that `Dr. Oz' was on Oprah saying that chlorine and other chemicals in our water can cause thinning hair. Off to Home Depot I went, but they and all other stores were out of just a filter (I didn't need an entire fancy showerhead system). When I finally received this Model in the mail, I screwed it on, turned on the water and the darn thing popped off and broke. I returned by mail it for another one, but that one is very tenuous in its stability. I would highly recommend getting a good solidly made shower head filter. This GE model is cheaply made, which brings up the old adage, "You get what you pay for". I'll let you know if my hair stops falling out later. I'll also let you know when I buy yet another BETTER filter (probably soon).
UPDATE: Two showers later, the entire filter snapped off. Now that didn't last long! I headed out for a GOOD filter head today! I ended up buying the "Culligan WHS-C125 Wall-Mount 10,000 Gallon Capacity Filtered Showerhead, Chrome Finish".

Watts 5YR Premier Filter 5-Year/20,000-Gallon Inline Ice Maker Water Filter Review

(More customer reviews)After a month of use to get it broken in I believe I can share my brief experience with this filter. First off, installation was really easy. Less than 30 minutes (don't forget to 'flush' it for five minutes). The water I had previously smelled and tasted like pool water. It seemed to have a more than acceptable amount of chlorine going by smell alone. As soon as I plugged this filter in instantly odorless tasteless water came out. Also, very recently some maintenance was done to the city pipes turning all the water in the house brown for a short while. Sinks, toilets, hose, everything that is except the fridge attached to this filter was clearly brown. Hands down side by side comparison this filter does an awesome job. If you want a better sense of security and want to remove the nasties that end up in your water get this filter.

(More customer reviews)I installed a Waterboss 900 model about 4 years ago, and what a mistake! The unit has quit working sometime over the last year, of course it has a 3 year warranty. You cna forget calling "custome support"! What a bunch of know-nothings. I called 4 times and got a different "fix-it" scenario each time, and I tried them all to no avail. I wrote them an email explaining my dissatifcation with their product and got a call from a rep. They could not care less, an were not about to give me any leeway on fixing it, even though it was just 6 mths out of warranty when I first called.
dO YOURSELF A FAVOR: FORGET WATERBOSS! Go with another product!

WaterBoss Water Softener - 36,400 Grain Capacity, Model# 900 Review

(More customer reviews)The time had come for me to replace the old water softener. I went to Menards and immediately was impressed with the Water Boss brand due to it's low profile design and implied superior quality. Oh was that last part a mistake!
Installation was easy, programming was easy, life was wonderful until months later when it started beeping. The error code indicated a problem with the timer motor that operates the mechanism (while this is demand sensing, an electronically activated timer motor is still the method of mechanically working the unit - no issue here). So I pull the controller off and indeed see that the timer motor has failed. Pull the moter, check the serial number and, uh, oh ooooohhhhh...... Houston, we have a problem!
The paper serial number label, which is on the valve itself, is not resistant to salt dust! It was very hard to read, and upon wiping it with a dry cloth, all the numbers wiped right off. Now the date stamp on the motor was just months old, so I called and explained my situation. Water Boss could not have cared less. My 3 year warranty was useless due to their poor labeling system. "What credit card do you wish to use....."
Fast forward to many months later. After resetting my unit to delay regeneration and turning off the salt-gobbling 96 hour max run time, I noticed hard water one day, and the "days remaining" was still 11. IOW it was not sensing my usage, and indeed the water flow icon was not moving despite having the washer filling up. A quick inspection reveals that the ribbon cable from the hall effect sensor for the water flow turbine has corroded at the controller connection. DUH! This is clearly a product defect. Yet it will be out of pocket again since my 3 year warranty is useless. Hmmm - I wonder how much THIS under 3 year old part will cost me?
Do yourself a favor, just avoid this brand. Older units may be the picture of reliability, but I've read too many bad comments about the new units and poor customer service - a real eye opener when you, like me, have experienced the same fate.
