GE GXSM01HWW Shower Filter System Review

Short Story: I knew there was a lot of chlorine in my water, so I only drink bottled water. Then while I was whining about my hair thinning, a friend says that `Dr. Oz' was on Oprah saying that chlorine and other chemicals in our water can cause thinning hair. Off to Home Depot I went, but they and all other stores were out of just a filter (I didn't need an entire fancy showerhead system). When I finally received this Model in the mail, I screwed it on, turned on the water and the darn thing popped off and broke. I returned by mail it for another one, but that one is very tenuous in its stability. I would highly recommend getting a good solidly made shower head filter. This GE model is cheaply made, which brings up the old adage, "You get what you pay for". I'll let you know if my hair stops falling out later. I'll also let you know when I buy yet another BETTER filter (probably soon).
UPDATE: Two showers later, the entire filter snapped off. Now that didn't last long! I headed out for a GOOD filter head today! I ended up buying the "Culligan WHS-C125 Wall-Mount 10,000 Gallon Capacity Filtered Showerhead, Chrome Finish".

Shower Filter, White, w/ Replaceable Cartridge Review

Shower Filter, White, w/ Replaceable Cartridge

*Please note that this filter is a reduction filter and cannot possibly reduce all chemicals and contaminants in your water to zero!*
This filter mounts easily with no tools and the replacement cartridges are a great value, since they last many months (up to a year, depending on your water.) It noticeably reduced chlorine (which dries my skin terribly) and the odor of rotten eggs that sometimes is in our city water (hydrogen sulfide.) This is basically a Brita filter for your shower and it works just as well, if not better, than it's advertised. Since the water is cleaner, it takes less soap to lather up and there doesn't seem to be as much soap scum to clean up.
Try it out and you'll be hooked!

Shower Water Filter KDF Review

I'm VERY chlorine sensitive & this filter worked well for 7 months before I had to replace it. I usually took a 10-15 min. shower daily with it. I could no longer smell chlorine in the water and felt much better (no more nausea or extreme feeling of tirednes). Knew I had to replace it when I could smell chlorine faintly again and symptoms began to reapear. Will buy a filter with replaceable cartridges next time to save money.Well worth buying this type of filter anyway, even if you don't have chlorine sensitivity because it makes your skin and hair noticeably softer and not so dry.

This shower head filter has made an enormous difference on my skin and hair. I have terrible eczema and extreme dry skin in the winter--I can't tell you how much money I have spent in my life on body wash, moisturizers, etc. But I think all along my biggest problem was the quality of the water. Now I hardly use any moisturizer and can actually use BAR soap...if you have dry skin or eczema, you should know what a coup this is! I can also see a HUGE difference when I take a shower elsewhere, like visiting my mom's--it feels like I have an itchy sweater on when I don't use the filter!
