Written by a building inspector who kept getting requests for his "code cheat sheets". This little volume of "can't bust 'em" plastic coated pages is meant to be used. Very condensed and useful.
It explains all the major items of the building, plumbing, elecrical and mechanical codes using clear language and helpful diagrams. If you've ever curled up with the UBC you will understand the need for such a reference.
Invaluable for builders, designers and people who work on their own homes. Covers UBC, CABO, UMC and a few more from the alphabet soup of national codes.

Study Guide to Essentials of Pharmacology for Health Occupations Review

Study Guide to Essentials of Pharmacology for Health Occupations

As a single parent and full time student I find it difficult to keep up. My pharmacology class is packing this book into 10 weeks. The normal length of semesters is 16 weeks. Some weeks consist of 4 tests. This book has been a definite asset to my education. It is thourough, but consice educational tool. The text consists of an overall introduction of medicines and then it breaks down the medicines by body system with sub-categories of classification. The worksheets are cumbersome, but a good learning tool. I only wish I would have known I could buy this book here as it is less expensive than the college bookstore!

I found this book misleading, at best. The ideas in it are simply common sense -- anyone who has even played with the idea of embracing a more simple, frugal way of life already knows this stuff.

How I Turned $50 into $5 Million in Country Property--Part Time and How You Can Do the Same Review

How I Turned $50 into $5 Million in Country Property--Part Time and How You Can Do the Same
Average Reviews:

I bought this book based on the prior 7 reviews. The prior reviewers need higher standards. The author spent about 1/2 of this book recapping world history, from the 60's to the new century, and the recap has nothing to do with real estate. For example, he talkes about what was happening in Vietnam, and then he tells about what he was doing at the same time back in the states (buying/selling land). Its not a very good How To book, because he never really discusses his reasons for the wordings of his ads, his strategies, etc.
Also, the title is misleading. It took this guy 45 years to have $5 million in real estate. I will be returing my copy to Amazon.
Also, this is a very, thick, wordy book, and only 1/2 to 1/4 of it is actually spent talking about real estate.I heard that this other books are better from someone that knows real estate: Finding and Buying your Place in the Country by Les Scher and How to Make a Fortune Investing in Real Estate: The Land Game by Albert Winnikoff. Nature's Building Blocks: An A-Z Guide to the Elements Review

Nature's Building Blocks: An A-Z Guide to the Elements
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
John Emsley writes excellent books on chemistry and Emsley's The Elements [3rd Edition] is an indispensable guide to the chemical elements for scientists. However, a layperson delving into The Elements may find it tough going because of its myriad numbers and tiny tidbits of text. In Nature's Building Blocks, Emsley dispenses with most of the numbers and expands the tidbits of text into page length essays on each element. Even though the book is clearly a reference book, the section on each element is an enjoyable read. Each section is divided into subsections that relate the element's significance to the cosmos, humans, food, medicine, history, war, economics, the environment, and then ends with a section called the Element of Suprise [one element's suprise is that there is nothing that Emsley could find to say about it that was suprising]. This book contains the kind of information I need as a chemistry and earth science teacher in a high school to spice up discussions on the elements. All laypeople with an interest in chemistry need a copy of this excellent book. Every high school library in the country should have a copy of this book on their shelves.
