I think this book is too expensive for the content it delivers. Most of the chapters are just magazine article reprints without any appreciable depth or good insights you can use in practical formulations. Besides, with some crafty internet searching you can get similar information contained in the book for free.

New edition to come soon! Authors Randy Schueller and Perry Romanowski re-emphasize the importance of providing introductory technical information to those who would like to improve their understanding of cosmetic science. Since the 1999 publication of the original Beginning Cosmetic Chemistry, thousands of new chemical raw materials and new formulations have been developed, countless new marketing concepts have been tested and hundreds (if not thousands) of new cosmetic regulations have been enacted. The four major sections of this book include: Orientation, Tools and Terms, Cosmetic Ingredients and Vehicles, Product Development and Product Testing
