Solving the MS Mystery: Help, Hope and Recovery Review

I gave this book only four stars for a couple of reasons. Despite its profound importance and excellent content on dental amalgam as the underlying cause of a great number of today's illnesses which have mercury as the root etiology, the content is unfortunately not up to date on certain technical issues. For example, he asserts that methylcobalamin will methylate inorganic mercury and is therefore dangerous. While it is true that some bacteria can methylate the mercuronic ion, and that this reaction can be made to occur in a laboratory test tube, this is not what happens in real live human beings or animals when given subcutaneously, intramuscularly, or intravenously. This was confirmed to me in personal communication with Boyd Haley, PhD, who has done much work in this field. In addition, please refer to the work done by the Swedish physician, Dr Britt Ahlrot-Westerlund, and her success with treating patients with high doses of injectable methylcobalamin status post amalgam removal for further elucidation on this subject. (One should be cautioned however, not to accept any B-12 injections which contain a preservative, as this can cause problems in a detoxing patient. Also, some people experience angry agitated aggression and can get themselves into trouble even though it is helpful for most.)
Huggin's approach to "balancing chemistries" is somewhat misguided, since this does not actually detoxify the system, but rather make it work better while the mercury remains in place. Thus it is a permanent lifestyle change - well worthwhile in terms of symptom reduction - rather than an intervention that can be stopped at some future point in time. While diet and supplements are paramount to the detoxification process, one will not get well if they are very poised unless they chelate. This leads to another problem I have with his approach of using DMSA on alternating days as there are multitudinous reports of this inappropriate and harmful protocol causing psychosis and permanent motor neuron damage in many people who use it. He completely disregards the pharmacokinetics of DMSA. If you are looking for an appropriate way to detoxify, I would recommend reading Andrew Cutler's book Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment (IBSN 096716808 - search on this number to find it easily). Cutler holds a PhD in chemistry and actually looks at the science behind detoxification as well as collecting patient reports on what the different protocols felt like and how the people responded after using them. Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment is an excellent companion volume to Dr. Huggin's book.

All in all, this book has much merit and a few problems. If you are sick - really sick - I advise researching your options thoroughly before you end up paying more than you have to - in terms of health and dollars - for bad advice. This book can be a good place to start your research, but further investigation is absolutely essential to avoid falling prey to the few pieces of bad advise intermixed with all the good advice the hard way. The book is well worth the money as long as you do further investigation before trying things. [...].

If, unfortunately, you have Multiple sclerosis, or if you know someone who does, this definitive work in the field of autoimmune diseases, Solving the MS Mystery, will be just what you have been looking for. Hal A. Huggins DDS, MS, had promised that, after treating 1000 MS patients, he would write a book detailing the Protocol that has worked to reverse autoimmune diseases. This is that book.If you are frustrated and discouraged from hearing that there is nothing but pharmaceutical drugs you can take or you are exhausted from trying strange and costly treatments, take heart. This book quotes scientific journals and is based not only on scientific studies and biochemistry but also on the experiences that Dr. Huggins has had with his MS patients over the last 33 years.Always on the cutting edge, when he received information about dental toxicity that was contrary to what he had been taught in dental school, Dr. Huggins was, at first, disbelieving. However, reviewing the scientific literature, working with dental patients, and, finally, going "back to school" to receive his Masters emphasizing immunology and toxicology from the University of Colorado confirmed what others in the field had shown him—that toxic dental materials in the mouth so close to the brain could trigger autoimmune diseases. He wanted to know why—not just alleviate the symptoms, but also know why.His study in the field of biochemistry convinced him that he could balance a person's body chemistry just like a racecar mechanic could perfectly tune a car. Why, if we think it's important to have other mechanical devices work at peak effectiveness should we not have our body tuned as well? This book has practical information as well as scientific information for the professional. Take a look at the Table of Contents listed below. Information you need to know to give yourself Informed Consent for treatment is in this book. Take charge of your health and become educated about treatments that work. You can do as much or as little as you want, but now you will know what is available.

I found this book browsing in a small bookstore in Aptos, California. I was interested in finding out what is in some processed restaurant and other foods that I am finding myself sensitive to...well, my God, I had no idea what a toxic jungle of products are available for consumers to slowly poison themselves with. The book is very informative and straightforward. It is easy to locate the information you want and frankly I found it easier than searching the internet. The content is what it is and the author doesn't try to glamorize what is quite sobering information nor trivilize. A must read and act upon book!

I find the book to be an excellent field guide for first responders in rural areas where cell phone and internet access is unreliable. The guide also includes legacy chemicals which are often found at rural sites. The guide recently received the British Medical Society Highly Commended Award. This is a must reference for all rural first responders and emergency treatment facilities.

Very understandable book. As an M.D., I often deal with patients with Asthma, allergies, Multiple Chemical Sensitivities, and other health problems caused by the vast amount of chemicals we touch each day. I found this book to be valuable and interesting. Hot current topics such as the safety of antibacterial chemicals, plants that can harm your pets, and dangerous chemical additives and colorings are talked about. Olestra, melatonin and DHEA are discussed, along with fun topics like the chemical components of chocolate.

It's All in Your Head: The Link Between Mercury Amalgams and Illness Review

It's All in Your Head: The Link Between Mercury Amalgams and Illness

Mercury in any form is a poison. That truth is learned by many individuals at an early age. What isn't readily available information however, is the fact that mercury is used in ALL metal dental fillings (incorrectly referred to as "silver fillings"). Why the American Dental Association (ADA) wants the public to think mercury is magically rendered harmless when placed in dental fillings (in the mouth) is a very thought provoking question, not to mention, scary... This book addresses mercury fillings in the mouth along with a few other really great tidbits you'll be glad you learned about...
Don't forget to also read "Uninformed Consent", Dr. Huggins latest 1999 book release.
Fortunately, I met Dr. Huggins back in 1983 when I had no idea what was wrong with me and I was sleeping 15 hours a day and each day I felt like I had just pulled an all-nighter at college...The medical folks told me I was either pregnant or I needed a shrink. Luckily for me they were wrong on both counts... All I needed was to have the mercury removed (correctly) from my mouth and subsequently from my body. (Body detoxification lasts for the rest of your life). Thank you again Dr. Huggins!

What's Toxic, What's Not Review

What's Toxic, What's Not
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a must-have book.
I've never written an on-line book review but I feel so strongly about this book's message that I'm taking the time to write this one in the hopes that you'll act on it.
As a public health professional specializing in environmental health, I am always getting questions from friends, family, and the public about environmental threats to their health.
Recent examples: My water smells funny when I take showers, is this a problem for my child or me? Should I worry about living near the highway - my windowsills have black soot on them. My neighbor's wood stove smells up our house at night and I fear my father's emphysema is worsening. My employer just moved me into a new office building that stinks of chemicals and now at night my chest hurts - it's never hurt before. I love to eat fish but the media is telling me to stop - should I?
I must admit I don't have all the answers - not even close. The diversity of threats, the complexity of each threat, and the proliferation of new scientific research makes it impossible for one person to have all the most informed answers.
But Ginsberg and Toal's new book comes closer to covering all the bases--and covering them exceptionally well--than anything I've ever read.
These experts have dedicated their careers to public health. They've worked on the front lines for decades. Their vast real-world experience and far-reaching understanding of the science--coupled with a knack for translating complexity into easily digestible and practical answers--is a winning combination.
Section 5 (Tying it All Together) alone is worth the full cost of the book (which is considerably less than how much I typically spend each day commuting). Actually, the section is worth a lot more than the book cost. It's hard to believe this much useful and important knowledge comes so cheaply.
I just bought 10 copies of this book. I'm sending these new copies to some of my friends and relatives raising families, to others with health problems, and to my parents and siblings. Of course I know many more people who likely would benefit from the book. I'll send them this review and urge them to make the investment. Everyone I know will be covered.
I have no doubt they'll find this book one of the most useful purchases they've made in awhile.
The added bonus is I'll no longer need to spend hours trying to find answers to all of their questions. Ginsberg and Toal's book now gets the job done for me.
